Emily A. Rawls, 91, of Plantation, passed away May 22, 2017. The 12th of 13 children of Rudolph and Emma Herold; she was born in Miccosukee, Florida, January 4, 1926. Emily was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, William D. Rawls. She is survived by their five children; Emily Mountcastle (Skip), Robert Rawls (Fern), Hazel Rawls, Grace Dolder, and Marion Mark (Richard); seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She graduated from FSU in 1948 with degrees in mathematics and chemistry. Emily moved from Tallahassee, Florida to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to begin her mathematics teaching career. She met her future husband, Bill, at Ft. Lauderdale Methodist Church, and married him July 1949. In additional to her family, her greatest passions were organic gardening, sewing, cooking, fishing, and FSU Football. She taught mathematics at Plantation High School from 1969 until her retirement. Funeral Service will be held, Thursday, May 25, 2017, 1:00 PM, at T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home. Private interment will take place at Lauderdale Memorial Park.
