In Loving Memory of Eric Winston Wellington
It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Eric Winston Wellington, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Born on July 30, 1957, in Portland, Jamaica, Eric’s journey was one filled with love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. He peacefully passed away at his home in North Lauderdale on March 20, 2025.
Eric was a man of quiet strength and simple joys. He found immense happiness in the presence of his children and grandchildren, always cherishing their laughter, milestones, and the time spent together.
He is survived by his children: Arlene Murdock, Jerome Wellington, Simone Sutherland, Khadene James, Cassandra Wellington, Damar Wellington, Cherisse Wellington, and Eric Wellington. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren: Ashley, Llosandra, Horace, Hayle, Niyle, Meliya, Liam, Luke, Calvin and Layna, each a piece of his heart.
Eric also leaves behind his brother Norris Laidley, uncles Neville and Walter Raffington, his aunts Iverine, Joyce, Ilrette, and Urma Raffington, and a host of close family and cherished friends. He is now reunited in eternal peace with his mother, Miriam Wellington, his granddaughters Shanika and Siyan and great-granddaughter, Arianna.
Those who knew Eric will remember him as a gentle soul who lived a humble life, finding peace in the beauty of nature. He loved fishing, watching the world pass by in quiet reflection, and simply enjoying life’s small, meaningful moments. His kindness and warm spirit left an imprint on everyone he met; he was deeply loved.
We will celebrate his life and honor his memory on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 NW 70th Ave, Plantation, FL 33313. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to join us for a repast at Mullins Hall, 10170 NW 29th St, Coral Springs 33065
Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and forever dear.
