Dr. Guy Phillip Fenger, 79, of Boca Raton, FL passed away October 11, 2021 in Delray Beach, FL. Born in Buffalo, NY to Jorgen Robert Callear, an advertising salesman (September 11, 1914- September 14, 1990) & Elona (nee Doepp) Fenger , a devoted mother and homemaker (September 30, 1921 – June 26, 2003. Father’s family operated department stores in Hamburg, NY. He attended local schools, and grew up in the Buffalo area. He attended the University of Buffalo and Plattsburgh State in Buffalo, NY, then obtained a degree in philosophy from Wadhams Hall in Ogdensburg, NY. He then attended the Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, NY, completing a Masters degree in Divinity and was ordained a Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Ogdensburg on April 30, 1977. He then served numerous parishes and taught in New York High Schools. In the Ogdensburg Diocese he taught English, religion and social studies. In 1981 he completed his master’s degree in education, with advanced studies in educational administration. He moved to Florida in 1983, becoming a teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and professor at Barry University in Florida. He also served as chaplain to St. Thomas Aquinas High School and chaplain to Knights of Columbus 3080 from 1984 to 1989. He was appointed vocations director for Broward County schools in 1986. While in South Florida he obtained his doctorate in education from Nova (Nova Southeastern) University. Within the Archdiocese of Miami, Father Guy served the parishes of Our Lady Queen of Heaven, All Saints, St Boniface before retiring from full time ministry in March of 2011. He continued to serve numerous parishes in the Archdiocese of Miami and the Diocese of Palm Beach County in his retirement. He is survived by his brothers, Peter Walker Fenger, Retired USN CWO4 born in 1944, John Paul Fenger, Retired LT Buffalo Police Dept, born in 1947 and Lawrence George Fenger born in 1948. His sister Gail Ann Rainville was born in 1943 and Susan Mary DiPirro was born in 1945; both of Father’s sister passed away in 2014, and like their mother loved being homemakers. He will be forever remembered by all those whose lives he touched. Father Guy always loved animals, and he will be missed by Hosea, his cat, who is in a caring home. Visitation will be Tuesday October 19, 2021, at St Andrew Catholic Church in Coral Springs from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
