Frank Joseph McManus of Sunrise, FL, passed on March 31, 2020. He is survived by his sister Rita Wotherspoon of Old Saybrook, Ct., and brothers Joe of Ogden, UT, Bob of Madison, Ct and Tom of Marshfield, Ma. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Theresa D McManus, his father Robert E McManus and his sister Mary Ellen Brown. Frank also leaves behind his former spouse, Rita Sokoloski McManus and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Boston, Frank spent his early years in Beverly Farms, MA where he spent his summers with his feet in the cold Atlantic on West Beach with his big brother Joe and his cousins. After a family move to Connecticut, he ended up in Pennsylvania. Frank was a veteran of the US Navy where he served as a radio technician in the submarine service.
Frank moved to south Florida in 1979 where he enjoyed a long career in the commercial appliance industry. Retirement came in 2015 where he pursued his love of photography. His work as a portrait photographer created some demand for both his skill and the ease with which he worked. He was very charitable with his time taking on many projects without compensation. Frank also embraced the ride-share revolution where he became an UBER and LYFT driver. He became instrumental in organizing a network of local ride share drivers.
Frank will be buried in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth with Military Honors. Due to the COVID-19 Virus, the ceremonies cannot be scheduled. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations to Cleveland Clinic Florida in memory of Frank McManus.
