Gaetano "Guy" Magli, born on May 16, 1942, in Manhattan, New York, left this world peacefully on March 22, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered.
Beginning his professional journey in the deli foods sector at Cheese Mart in Newark, New Jersey, Guy later became a notable food merchandiser with esteemed companies including Pantry Pride, Dick Garber Corporation, Food Giant, Pinnacle Foods, and Doris Italian Market. He was an innovator and master of his trade, taking great pride in his work and achieving remarkable success throughout his career.
Guy's radiant personality made him a cherished companion. Known for his kindness, he had a unique ability to make those around him feel at ease. He delighted in sharing stories and boasted a great sense of humor infused with quick wit, traits that he has passed down to many family members. His love for people shone brightly throughout his life, drawing friends and family to him in droves. Guy was a devoted husband, father, and servant of God who lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. He faithfully served his family, his church, and the Lord with unwavering dedication and a generous heart. His legacy of kindness, strength, and faith will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Family was at the heart of everything Guy did. He always prioritized time spent with loved ones, creating an abundance of cherished memories. Family gatherings never lacked warmth as he enjoyed meticulously decorating for the holidays, emphasizing that “it’s about the presentation.” Guy knew how to light up a room and infuse joy into the atmosphere, making every occasion special.
He was a devoted father to four children—Tina Stage and her husband Eric, Mark Magli and his wife Lou Lou, David Magli, and Andreya Cobbs and her husband Roger. He took immense pride in his role as a father and often spoke of his deep love for his wife, Barbara Skoczylas Magli, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren; Mason Stage, Cameron Stage, Bianca Cobbs, Dominic Gaetano Magli, and Tyce Cobbs, all of whom filled his life with joy and laughter.
Guy relished in life’s simple pleasures, from singing songs in the car with his family and enjoying his favorite sweets – often beckoning “cookie!” – to taking trips to the airport and savoring peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. He was known for his special whistle, a call that echoed through the neighborhood, signaling it was time for everyone to come home. A passionate sports enthusiast, he cheered for his Dolphins, Gators, and Yankees, ensuring he never missed a moment to support his children and grandchildren at their sporting events.
His love for the game extended beyond cheering, as he often coached with passion and delivered memorable after-game speeches, inspiring young athletes. Whether through his work, community events, coaching youth sports, fundraising, or leading local associations, the impact Guy made on our community was profound. His involvement reached far beyond our family, touching lives of not just his own children, but countless youth and adults who crossed his path. His legacy is one of compassion, leadership, and unwavering support, deeply felt across the community and remembered by all who had the fortune to know him. His generous spirit left a positive and lasting impact on the hearts of many that will be remembered forever.
He is preceded in death by his father, Giuseppe Magli; mother, Anna Maria Bavaro; brothers Vito and Frank Magli; and sister Teresa DiSanto. He also leaves behind cherished nephews/nieces, Joseph Magli, Millie Magli, and Lisa Magli, who will miss him dearly.
A Mass in honor of Gaetano Magli will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church located at 1400 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, Florida, 33068, on April 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at Mark and Lou-Lou's home in Coral Springs. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering a remarkable man who lived a life full of love, laughter, and countless cherished moments.
