Link will not be live until 10:15 AM With regret, we announce that Glenford Lascelles Gumbs Sr., loving husband of Linda Gumbs, transitioned on Friday, June 18, 2021, in Florida, at the age of 73. Glenford was born on November 22, 1947, to Lascelles and Maisie Gumbs in Basseterre, St Kitts. Glenford graduated from the Cayon Senior School, and worked as an Electrical Apprentice and mastered this art to become an Electrical Contractor. He worked in several other areas, including Business, Customs and Excise, Insurance and finally, as a Hotelier and Owner of the Morgan Heights Resort at Canada Estate. Extremely versatile in the kitchen, he was well-known for his many creative desserts, casseroles and well-seasoned meats. Glenford was a prominent caterer for many local events and an exceptional host to his patrons. Passionate about farming and animals, he was also famous for his fresh cuts of pork and beef. He had a deep commitment to his family and played a significant role in many of their critical decisions. In his later years, he took great pride in enjoying his retirement and being actively involved in helping to raise his grandchildren Daria-Gleneva, Gemarr and Gemani. Glenford will be fondly remembered for his warmth, great sense of humor and kindness, and would be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his dear son Glenford Lascelles Gumbs Jr. His memories will be cherished by his loving wife Linda, his children Gregory Gumbs, Gail Gumbs-James and Geron Gumbs and grandchildren, Daria-Gleneva James, Gemarr Gumbs and Gemani Gumbs. Other relatives include: son-in-law, Sherwin James and daughter-in-law, Charisse Gumbs; sisters, Aurelia Hanley in Tortola, British Virgin Islands and Brenda Osborne in Canada; brother, Tony Gumbs in England; brothers-in-law, Orville Hanley and Elmo Osborne; his aunts, Merle Smith in England and Greta DeVergee in the USA; uncle-in-law, Barry Smith in England and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. May his soul rest securely in the light and peace of our Risen Lord.
