Hazel Lorene Greene Carr February 7, 1920 – August 4, 2017 Hazel Lorene Greene Carr, 97, of Fort Mitchell, KY, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2017 in Plantation, Florida. Hazel was born in Baizetown, KY on February, 7, 1920 to Harvey and Minnie Greene. As a teenager, she moved with her family to Central City, KY, where she met her future husband, Matt, while participating in the Miss Muhlenberg County pageant. Together, they moved to Louisville, and Hazel spent her time there as a wife, homemaker and mother, raising their three children. In the late 1950s, Matt was transferred to Northern Kentucky, and they settled in Ft. Mitchell. Hazel lived there until 2007, when she moved to Frankfort, KY to be near her son, Mike, and daughter, Linda, and then to Plantation, FL in 2012, to live with her daughter, Peggy. Throughout her life, she was a beloved and supportive wife, and a strong, amazing and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Those who knew her were struck by her talent in quilting and sewing, her amazing cooking, her warmth and resolve in raising her children, her generosity and devotion to her grandchildren, and her encyclopedic knowledge of the stories of her extended family. She was a loyal friend and a considerate neighbor to those who were lucky enough to have known her, and would lend a hand whenever needed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Clinton Carr, and is survived by her loving children, Peggy Carr Tingle, Linda Carr Sawyers and Michael Clinton Carr (Dianna); her adoring and devoted grandchildren, Susan Tingle DiLaura (Jon), Stephen Tingle, Sarah Tingle, Jennifer Carr, Matthew Carr (Carol) and Daedra Kelly Gatliff (Ryan); and her great-grandchildren, Chloe DiLaura, Peyton and Maxwell Carr, and Shauna, Tabitha and Alex Aponte. She also has many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the Kentucky and Ohio area. We couldn’t have asked for a better mother or grandmother. We were all better for knowing her, and will miss her dearly until we meet her again in heaven. A memorial service is planned at Highland Cemetery, 2167 Dixie Highway, Ft. Mitchell, KY, over the Labor Day weekend. Cremation Arrangments by T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home 954 587-6888
