Ignacia Villa, born on April 28, 1928, in Havana, Cuba, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, in Plantation, Florida, at the age of 96. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend, lovingly known as "Abuela" by her family, and cherished by all who knew her.
Ignacia’s life was a testament to resilience and love. Born and raised in Cuba, she carried the warmth and vibrancy of her homeland with her throughout her life. In 1965, she immigrated to the United States with her husband, Miguel "Abuelo" Villa, who predeceased her in 2001. They settled in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where they built a new life for their family, demonstrating remarkable strength and determination. In 1977, they relocated to Miami, Florida. She had a particular fondness for cats caring for many feline companions in her later years.
Ignacia was a devoted wife and mother. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Miguel "Abuelo" Villa, and her son, Vicente Villa, who predeceased her in 2006. She is survived by her children: Miguel Villa and his wife, Elizabeth; Juana Villa and her husband, Andy Wenzel; and Lazara Villa. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: William Markley, Alex Markley, Emily Wenzel, Johnny Wenzel and Lisa St. Germain. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her caring in-laws, Elba Lopez and Marta Cabrera and her husband Luis Cabrera, and a host of other family and friends who will deeply miss her.
A visitation in Ignacia’s honor will take place on January 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM the next morning at T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, located at 7001 NW 4th St, Plantation, FL 33317. A graveside service will follow on January 21, 2025, commencing at 1:00 PM at Vista Memorial Gardens, situated at 14200 NW 57th Ave, Miami Lakes, FL 33014.
Ignacia's presence illuminated the lives of many. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be profoundly missed. Her memory, especially as "Abuela," will be cherished forever by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
