Indiana Dorvil was born on June 18, 1928 in Plaisance, Haiti. Her parents are Dameus Dorvil and Olizia Pierette Dorvil. Her parents had 12 children; 8 boys and 4 girls. She was the 3rd child and outlived all of them.
As a child, Indiana was very bright and very intelligent. She started Elementary school in Plaissance then moved to Gonaives and opened her own business. She studied business and fashion altogether. She opened her own Restaurant in Gonaives and was the sole provider for her parents and siblings. She sponsored her brothers and sisters schooling also provided for housings as well. Indiana met her oldest daughter's father and gave birth to her first child, proceeded with her 2nd daughter, named Kettly Britto.
While she was running her business, she fell in love with her common law husband and had 4 children; Claude Wah, Yelnick Wah, Alexia Wah and Zeila Wah. She then started to travel to the carribean Islands to buy merchandise for her business. She moved to the Capital in Port au Prince, Haiti and devoted her time, energy, courage taken care of one of her beloved daughter, Yelnick Wah whom she had resided in South Florida. She spent 18 years here in the state. She was a devoted Christian and never missed a Sabbath day of worship. In 2013, while she was on her way going to church, she felt down and broke her hips. She never fully recovered from her injuries. However, she spent 2 years in hospice and was able to recuperate.
She was taken off the hospice in 2015. Moreover, the illness progress but she fought to the end.
