Jacqueline Verniero Polito (Jackie) passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022, in Plantation, Florida after a lengthy battle with dementia. She was 83.
Jackie was born in Newark, New Jersey and married Ralph G. Polito in Belleville, NJ in 1960. She moved with her family to Miramar, Florida in 1974. Her parents soon followed to Florida. This move brought her closer to her sister and allowed her to raise her children near their cousins. Jackie’s love of family carried through her entire life and continued to grow and flourish with her beloved grandchildren.
Jackie devoted nearly 40 years to the Broward County public schools in both employee and volunteer positions at various schools throughout the county. She was a devout Catholic and served with Ralph as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Stephens Catholic Church in Miramar and All Saints Catholic Church in Sunrise.
Jackie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph, of 50 years; her daughter, Judith; sister, Theresa Defino; and parents, John and Minnie Verniero. She is survived by her son Frank Polito (Ellen) of San Jose, California, daughter, Joanne Polito (Kenneth Butcher) of Hollywood, Florida, and grandchildren: Julianne Polito Garcia; Brianne Polito Seaman, Anthony Polito, Christina Polito, Andrew Bartusz and Nikolas Inzerillo. She is also survived by her many loving cousins, nieces and nephews and their loving children.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 4 at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home in Sawgrass/Weston from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 5 at All Saints Catholic Church in Sunrise, FL at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her behalf at the Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.
