James J Costello,78, passed away with his sons by his side on December 8, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale Florida. James was born and raised in Staten Island, NY by his parents James and Ellen, both Irish immigrants. He is survived by his wife Marion, children James, Patricia and Brian. James had four grandchildren Ryan, Victoria, Nicholas, and Meagan.He was a veteran of the US Army, 3rd Infantry Regiment, “The Old Guard” serving as one of the elite Sentinels, guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. He retired after 23 years with the New York Police Department. He first served as a Patrolman in Brooklyn at the 72nd Precinct, and was then promoted to Detective assigned to the Arson and Explosion Squad. He was a consummate investigator and went on to use his skills at JP Morgan after he retired from the NYPD. He was an avid golfer and loyal NY Giants fan. He eventually retired to Florida. James, ever the proud Irishmen, is certainly in the palm of God’s hand. He will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery with full Military honors at a later date.
