Jason Alan Downing

Jason Alan Downing was born June 7, 1973.

After a brief visit in a Miami Hospital, he passed away on May 11, 2023, due to kidney issues.

Survivors include his son, Jackson Kai Downing; mother, Candice Downing; father, Doug Downing, and aunt, Carol Betts.  

Jason, the love of his mother’s life, and dear son of his father, was a graduate from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science and business degree. He then went on to expand his horizons at Merchant Marine School. There he found his future as a yacht captain for many vessels in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  

Jason was an enthusiast for life with many accomplishments, including triathlons, skydiving, and yoga certifications. He loved many sports-water sports (from foil boarding, spear fishing, kite surfing), bodybuilding, hunting, camping, mud riding. Jason loved to read, cook, and making his special etouffee.

With all the accomplishments, he was a very humble, positive person-loyal to his friends and employer. Jason would put all other concerns above his own, and was always true to his word.

Jason had many friends throughout his life, and would all say, admirably that he was a mover and a shaker.

The love of Jason’s life was is son, Kai, first and foremost.

Jason was an animal lover. He and his former wife, Michaela had two beautiful dogs, Zoe and Willie, and a fat cat, Abbey.

He always strived for excellence, and he always accomplished it. Jason will dearly missed.

The funeral will be held in Florida on June 25th, 2023, at T. M. Ralph Funeral Homes.  Friends are welcomed to gather at 1:00PM, and his memorial service will begin at 2:00PM.
