On March 20, in the early evening, our dear Jean passed away. Above all, she was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin and friend to so very many. She was so proud of and deeply loved her entire family. Jean was also an accomplished critical care nurse and the truest friend anyone could ever have. Her character and the manner in which she lived her life will forever be an inspiration to so many. Though for us right now the void created by Jean's absence is enormous, we’re confident our memories of her will fill the void and ease the sadness we are feeling. For a 95 year old, she still had so many close friends. Some she knew from her days in New York, from nursing school, from her many years living in Plantation, from periods spanning long ago to quite recently. She simply made it so easy to be her friend. In recent days, many have described her as loving, caring, amazing, extraordinary, and inspirational. She certainly was all that, and more. Shortly before her departure, Jean repeatedly asked us to remind everyone she knew of how grateful and blessed she felt for the contribution each had made to her life. It was her wish that, after her death, we invite family and friends to gather at our home to personally thank you for your contribution to her life. To honor her wish, we’re inviting you to our home at 4:00 PM, on Saturday, April 7, 2018. There will be a spiritual service, including the live gospel music Jean requested. After that, we will serve the food and drinks Jean wanted you to enjoy, and have plenty of time to mingle and exchange with each other our own personal experiences with Jean. And, of course, there will be plenty of time to raise a glass of bourbon - or as she would refer to it; “mother’s medicine” - and take a sip to commemorate a life so well lived.
