Jephthah Edwards was born to Charles Edwards and Marie Lawrence in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica on January 27, 1924.
The 2nd eldest in a family of 10, he grew up in the countryside of Jamaica. He immigrated to the United States, New York City, when he was 27 years old. Driven and motivated, he continued to build his American Dream. He met the love of his life, Agnes “Zellie” Branford, married, and cherished 32 years of marriage in Hartford, CT. While living in Connecticut, he worked for American Airlines for over 15 years until retiring. Once retired, he relocated to Lauderhill, Florida where he resided for 35 years.
Jephthah had a multitude of interests and hobbies. He found great joy in golfing where he became a scratch golfer and he received many accolades. Often, he enjoyed his time watching wrestling and basketball on TV, playing guitar, cooking, gardening/farming, hosting family and friends, playing dominos, visiting casinos, and bringing a smile to the face of everyone he met.
Transitioned February 3rd, 2024 in Plantation, Florida. Jephthah is survived by his son, Mark, and granddaughter, Amanda Edwards, daughter-in-law Calise Lee Edwards, step granddaughter Jackie Lee, adopted-son Santiago Wood, sister Hyacinth Neil, brothers Kenneth Edwards and Barrington Edwards; goddaughters, Gloria Schenk and Yasmin, and a host of relatives and loved ones.
