Both parents died when Jerry was very young (father at age 4 in 1950 of a massive heart attack; mother at age 8 in 1954 of cancer). Until Jerry Fadgen was emancipated at age 18, he lived in 4 different foster homes and three orphanages. Prior to going to college he worked as a ditch digger, paper boy, gas station attendant, mechanic, car washer, church janitor, street cleaner and shoe salesman for Kenney Shoes. During the four years it took Jerry Fadgen to earn his college degree, he worked as a rough carpenter building new homes in Rochester NY and Washington DC during the summers, national department store toy salesman, bus boy, waiter, hospital emergency room admissions clerk, hospital laboratory technician, purchasing expeditor, vacuum sweeper salesman, and a laundry soap sample distributor for Proctor & Gamble. Due to a limited college budget, Jerry Fadgen ate 2 meals a day for four years resulting in a permanent loss of weight (Well, almost permanent.) Upon graduating from Duquesne University in four years with a B.S. in Business Administration, Jerry Fadgen began his professional career with Price Waterhouse/Coopers an international public accounting firm, and earned his certification as a Certified Public Accountant. This initial professional experience was followed by a series of highly responsible positions, which helped Jerry Fadgen to grow in valuable experience, with extensive technical and administrative skills. Upon moving to Florida, Jerry Fadgen and his family involved themselves in civic, political and church activities. During this time he worked on numerous national, state and local political campaigns, "twelve" of which were his own. When Jerry first ran for public office he said he was running because he believed in limited government. He was true to that philosophy every day. Jerry Fadgen has previously served 18 years on the Plantation City Council, where he served with distinction while bringing the full weight of his professional and personal experiences to bear for the benefit of all the people he serves. Jerry is survived by his wife Kathy of 48 years, his sons Tim and Rusty (Natalie) and his grandson Carson Alexander, whom was adopted in 2016 by Rusty and Natalie.
