Joan Margaret Brumbaum, 82, of Plantation, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019, with her children by her side. She was born in 1936 in St. Charles, Missouri to Clarence and Alice Broeckelmann. Joan graduated from Lindenwood College in St. Charles. She married the late William Frank Brumbaum in 1960. The family moved to Plantation in 1971. Joan is survived by 4 children: Vicki, Jill, Cindy and Bob, whom she raised on her own as a young widow. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren They were all her pride and joy and they affectionately referred to her as Mimi. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, William, in 1973. Joan was a school teacher, Primary Specialist, and Principal at schools in Plantation and Davie including Tropical Elementary, and Nova Eisenhower Elementary. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan also LOVED attending her grandchildren's events, Andrea Bocelli, crossword puzzles, playing Bridge, and going to Michigan football games. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 25th at 12:30PM, at Covenant Village in Plantation. It will be followed by a burial at Lauderdale Memorial Park in Fort Lauderdale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Joan Brumbaum, to Veterans Ocean Adventures.
