John Joseph Guariglio, 77 of Tamarac, FL passed away on January 25th, 2020 from Parkinson’s Disease & Dementia
John is Predeceased by his Father Joseph Rose Guariglio and Son Joseph William Guariglio.
John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Kathleen, Daughters Deborah (Nelson), Jennifer (William) Boehmer, Mother Maud who is 101 years old. Three Grandchildren Dillon, Kaylen, Joseph. Four Great Grandchildren, Braiden, Liam, Cameron & Ainsley. Sister Judy (Vito) Servideo, Brothers Raymond (Adrianne) & Thomas (Alice), Brother in law Thomas (Bonnie) Tignor, Nieces, Laura, Lisa, Nancy, Brenda, Corrine. Nephews, Rob, John, Mickey, Timothy, William, Michael & Daniel.
Born in Jamaica, Queens New York, John graduated from Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, NY. John attended Elon College in North Carolina where he met his loving wife Kathleen. After college, John joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Saratoga as a Radarman. After his career with the Navy, John began a long fulfilling career with the American Express company based in Manhattan, NY. He retired after 38 years of service. John’s career with American Express brought him and his family to Plantation, FL in 1976, where he lived until 2 years ago after moving to Tamarac, FL. John was a long time member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church.
John was an avid golfer, who enjoyed playing many courses throughout his life. He was on bowling leagues, softball teams, was a runner and loved riding his bike. John also spent many years coaching his daughter’s various soccer teams in Plantation, FL. He was a talented craftsman, designing and constructing many furniture projects.
John’s strength, determination and devotion to his health and family is what he will always be known and remembered for. The level of endurance throughout his battle with Parkinson’s was an example to everyone to never give up and continue to live your life with energy and passion daily. He amazed all those around him on a regular basis with his ability to keep moving forward despite numerous setbacks.
John was respected and admired by all who knew and loved him for his witty, calm, reassuring humorous nature. He will always be an inspiration and his legacy will be upheld for generations to come.
