Obituary:
In loving memory of John "Jack" Heimbach, Jr., a devoted family man who passed away peacefully at his home in Plantation, FL, overlooking his cherished pool on April 29, 2024.
Born on March 19, 1931, in Chicago, IL, John lived a life filled with kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication.
During the Korean War, he served in the Signal Corps where he honed his skills as a "phone man," showcasing his commitment to serving his country.
John spent over 35 years working for ATT/BellSouth/Illinois Bell, often volunteering for overtime to provide for his family. His strong work ethic and selflessness were evident in every aspect of his life.
Beyond his career, John dedicated his time to volunteering with Plantation United Methodist Church, helping fix things for those in need and around the church.
Those who knew John remember him for his kind and helpful nature, as well as his dry sense of humor which he maintained until his final days.
He found joy in simple pleasures like setting off fireworks during the family 4th of July celebrations. He maintained this tradition until just a couple of years ago. . His hobbies included fishing. Whether from local canals, or far flung places like the Dry Tortugas, he found solace and peace.
John is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Heimbach, and his devoted son Michael Heimbach. Together with his surviving family and friends, they mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, and friend.
His stated his goal was to live until 93. He made it And while he will be missed, his long life was gift to all that knew him.
Services to celebrate John's life will be held at the T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home in Plantation, FL. A visitation will take place on May 10th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The burial will then be conducted at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on the same day.
John Heimbach's legacy of kindness and dedication will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace as he fishes in tranquil waters beyond this life.
