John Richard Kanyuk, 90, of Plantation, passed away March 30, 2023.
John was a very private person, but once you got to know him, you would gravitate towards him. He was friendly, generous with a great sense of humor-remembering his laugh which was always spontaneous, robust and genuine. John spoke about days he served for the United States Navy, an experience of a lifetime being in so many different countries, even during the Korean War. Those experiences were a prelude to him entering the travel industry. John always talked about his favorite place, being on a safari in Africa. He had over 20 safaris, and even traveled to Antarctica.
John was an avid tool collector, adventuresome, loved to eat at different restaurants, and did NOT like to cook. He loved his clothes, always an exquisite and classic dresser. With blonde hair, blue eyes, and a great physique, who wouldn’t be intrigued by him.
In his younger years, John was a talented dancer, moving to the beat of the Polka, with his many steps. Watching him dance was like watching poetry in motion. He loved his mango trees. John would make dehydrated fruit from them, which was a lot of work, distributing the finished product to his family and friends who always wanted more.
You will be missed beloved brother.
