Juanita R. Duey

Alternate Link in case of technical difficulty Our Lord peacefully called Juanita Rene Duey home on Friday, November 19, 2021. Born in New York City to Francisco and Felicita Gutierrez on November 27, 1948, Juanita later moved to Miami with her sisters Maria America Burke and Hilda Iris Miles. She graduated Carol City Senior High School in 1968 and immediately entered the customer service field, where she retired as a customer service manager with a major appliance corporation. Always a wry smile and a keen sense of humor, Juanita loved to laugh, love, and spend time with her family. Juanita, nicknamed “Cookie” by her sister Maria because of her love of cookies and milk, had a quick wit and was known for her perfect one-liners that appropriately summed up any situation. She was fond of cooking and enjoyed spending time at the beach. Most importantly, however, Juanita enjoyed pleasant conversations with her loved ones over “a good cup of coffee.” Juanita, with her kind heart and generous love, always lifted those around her with a small joke, a word of encouragement, or a hand of support that positively touched so many lives. Juanita is survived by her sisters, Maria America Burke and Diana Selena O’Connell; her two children Jason Scott Duey and Elizabeth Iris Chovan; her two Godchildren Dianne Michelle Bronkhorst and Melissa Yvette Miles; her four grandchildren, Brianna Marie Duey, Jason Scott Duey, II, Ethan Andrew Duey, and Joshua Allan Duey; and countless nieces and nephews – all of whom she loved and adored. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Juanita’s life at a viewing from 1 PM to 3 PM, followed by a service at 3 PM on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the T. M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass / Weston, located at 371 Northwest 136 Avenue, Sunrise, Florida 33317.
