Karen Therese Bloemeke

Karen Therese Bloemeke, née Post, 66, passed away on January 15, 2025, in Coral Springs, Florida.

She was born on January 1, 1959, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Joseph Stanley Post and Marian Alice Post, née Yerashunas. Having relocated to River Edge, New Jersey, the Post family — including Karen's three younger siblings: twin sisters Janet and Jayne and brother Kenny — moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1969, where they attended Bayview Elementary School and Sunrise Middle School. Karen graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1977.

Karen loved nature and animals — particularly her backyard "friends," the birds, squirrels, raccoons, opossums and the cats she rescued and cared for over the years: Honee, Sylvester, Sammy, Sweetie and Baby Tigger. She loved the ocean, beaches and THE MOON. She loved New York City and the view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan from the 1 Hotel. She loved numbers, dates and learning the birthdays of everyone she met in search of "coincidinkies" in their correlations. A family photo album would occupy her for hours, as she loved to "LOOK." She loved music, concerts and dancing. Some of her favorites were Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Steely Dan, Elton John, Lady Gaga and Adele. She loved movies and insisted all films should have scenes of meals, weddings or a wedding meal, such as in her favorite, The Godfather. She was proud of her Polish heritage and loved to cook for her family, who she loved most of all.

Karen is survived by her husband of 37 years, Donald Arthur Bloemeke (64); her son, Jerimee Christopher Bloemeke (37); her daughter, Carissa Belle Bloemeke (31); and her cats, Fellini (10) and Sammy (age unknown).

A gathering and service to memorialize Karen will take place on January 26, 2025, at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston, located at 371 NW 136th Avenue, Sunrise, Florida 33325. The gathering will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the memorial service at 2:00 PM, concluding at 3:00 PM.

Karen — loving wife, mother, sister and caregiver — was an unforgettable woman with a voracious appetite and ecstatic enthusiasm for life. She will be deeply missed and in our hearts forever.
