Katherine Marie Kett

Katherine Marie (McDermott) Kett, born May 25, 1935, in Queens, New York, died on May 31, 2017 at the age of 82. Her beloved husband Francis Xavier Kett and sister Margaret Dietl predeceased her.  Kay is survived by her five children: Tim (59), Dan (58), Kevin (57), Brian (56) and Eileen (53).     Kay and Frank were long-time residents of the City of Plantation, moving to south Florida in 1969 and running a successful real estate company in the city for over 40 years.   Kay and Frank were certified Scuba divers and avid birders who loved to travel the world pursuing these passions.  Time with family was Kay's focus and she was the "rock" of the Kett clan.   Kay's greatest joy came from spending time with her nine grandchildren: Ryan (29), Travis (27), Lauren (26), Kathleen (26), Tim (25), Sean (24) Andrew (24), Dylan (23), and Frankie (20).     Visitation will be held at TM Ralph Funeral Home in Plantation (7001 NW 4th Street, Plantation, FL 33317) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 8th.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church (200 N University Dr, Plantation, FL 33324) at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 9th. Interment will immediately follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in North Lauderdale.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Food for the Poor
