Kathleen "Kathy" Smith

Kathleen (Kathy) Smith, 55, of Davie, Florida, passed away at home under Hospice care, and surrounded by her loving family, her faithful dogs, Max & Bailey, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 2:15 a.m. She is survived by her husband, Cameron Smith, her mother Sharon Hafner, her sister Deborah Kowalski and brothers Joe Hafner and Tom Hafner (Becky Hafner). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased in death by her father, Joseph Hafner and her nephew, Ryan Kowalski.

Kathy was a dedicated Special Needs High School Teacher at American Heritage/Academy School in Plantation for 20 years. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida and then a Masters’ degree in Special Education from Florida Atlantic University.

Her viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home, 371 NW 136 Avenue, Sunrise, Florida, 33325. The church service will be at St. David Catholic Church, 3900 S University Dr, Davie, FL 33328 at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The burial will be at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1500 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale, Florida, 33068, at 1:00 PM on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for Catholic masses and donations to Sylvester Cancer Center at the University of Miami.
