Kathy Vaden, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018. She was born on March 15, 1945 in St Louis, Missouri. Kathy was a loving wife, caring mother and kindhearted Grandmother. She will be forever remembered and loved by her husband of 49 years, Dennis Vaden; her 3 children: Michael, Vincent and Vickie; and her 10 grandchildren: Paige, Ashley, Michael Jr, Patton, Kylie, Zayva, Sebastian, Kira, Violette, Juliana, and an 11th Grandchild, little Gavin on the way. Kathy had an infectious smile, was artistic, creative, and inventive. She earned the love and admiration of those around her. Kathy was most known for her amazing talent for cake decorating. In the 1970s, she started making friend’s and family’s occasions special with her delightful cakes. Kathy’s creativity and talent led her to open her own business, Delicious Occasions, in Sunrise, FL during the 1980s. Her extraordinary cakes made countless people happy for many years. From famous customers like Dan Marino’s family, to local neighbors she made so many special occasions memorable. Kathy also spread her wondrous talent and acquired skills with hundreds through teaching cake-decorating classes at her store until she retired in 2003. Upon retirement from her cake business, Kathy and Dennis moved to Sugar Hill, Georgia. It was a sweet little town with a fitting name. Kathy made her way back to Florida and spent the last few years enjoying her incredible love for the ocean. Her favorite hobby was to spend time beachcombing with family and friends. She continued her creativity as a member of the Coral Springs Craft Guild. Kathy always loved helped her children and grandchildren with ongoing projects and her skills she taught them will now live through generations to come. Her artistic talents and love will always be remembered and missed by all that knew her. Visitation will be held at T.M. Ralph Sawgrass/Weston Funeral Home, 371 NW 136th Avenue, Sunrise, FL., on Tuesday May 29, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 8279 Sunset Strip, Sunrise, FL 33322 on Wednesday May 30, at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at South Florida National Cemetery.
