Kay Elizabeth Bean

Kay Elizabeth Bean passed away April 26, 2021 at her home in Tamarac, Florida.

Kay was born on October 6, 1953, in Denver, Colorado and was raised there before living in Chicago, Texas, and then settled here in South Florida in 1969.

She was a 1971 graduate of Carol City High School and then attended Miami Dade Community College, graduating with a degree in Psychology. After college Kay worked for many years with her mother, father, and brother at B&B Specialties, their family business. She then spent several years with Macys before finding her true calling at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, Florida where she would spend over 27 years working in administration. 

Palmetto General was her home away from home and she considered her colleagues to be family. Kay retired in July 2020.  While her career was the focal point of her life, she loved family traditions, old movies, TV shows from the 60’s and 70’s, and especially her cats. Kay had numerous cats over the years, and a few dogs, and she always enjoyed their companionship.

Kay was preceded in death by her father Robert C. Bean and her mother Betty R. Bean. She is survived by her brother Kevin R. Bean of North Port, Florida, niece Kimberly A. Bean of North Port, Florida, and nephew Bradford D. Bean of Plantation, Florida.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
