Kenneth Francis Hackett, 80, of Plantation, Florida, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019. Ken was born on March 22, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York. At age 12, he became a bat boy for the Brooklyn Dodgers, an early indication of his lifelong passion for sports. Ken moved to Miami at a young age. He attended the University of Florida and had a long, successful career as a pension consultant. He was a proud sponsor of the Florida Bar Tax Section, a role that brought great pleasure and many friends. On October 21, 1972, Ken married the former Vivian Montuori, the love of his life. They were married for 47 inseparable years and, together, raised their daughter Jennifer Noelle Hackett, the light of Ken’s life. Ken was an extraordinary husband and father, devoting himself entirely to his family’s happiness and well-being. Ken loved to travel all over the world with Vivian and Jennifer, and they created wonderful memories as a family. In later years, they spent a great deal of time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, inspiring his friends to call him “Cabo Ken” and form a club with the motto, "I'm a friend of Cabo Ken." Ken had a passion for sports and was an ardent supporter of the Miami Heat, not only as one of the original season ticket holders, but also as a season ticket holder for all his life. He enjoyed golf, fishing and fine dining. Ken lived with panache. Bringing merriment to those around him, he was known for his gregariousness and captivating stories. He loved people and made friends everywhere he went. Ken epitomized the American dream, possessing a tenacious work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He had unwavering integrity and impeccable ethics, and his heart was one of pure gold. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vivian, and cherished daughter, Jennifer. He was a loving husband and selfless father and dedicated his life to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The funeral service for Ken will be held at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, located at 5555 North Federal Highway, on Thursday, September 26, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.
