Kenrick “Ricky” Samai

Kenrick “ Ricky” Samai of Lauderhill, Florida was freed from the confines of his earthly body on Wednesday September 21, 2022 at the age of 72. He was born May 12, 1950 in Belmont, Trinidad.
Ricky is preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Rowena Samai, siblings Herbert aka Eddie, Maureen, Kenneth and Peter aka Kelly, and nephew Michael Reyes.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ramdaye “Betty” Samai, three children Sherwin; Michelle and her husband Julius; Shelly-Ann and her husband Hayden; eight grandchildren (Eric, Mark, Anjeli, Kaley, Mariah, Hayden Jr, Ariana, and Tristan), nephew (Marlon John, Dr. Peter Samai Jr. ,Kenneth Samai Jr), nieces (Marsha Reyes, Dr. Katherine Samai, Anna-Marie Samai, Lisa-Marie Samai, and Onika Arthur-Lloyd), grandniece Sasha Reyes and grandnephew Michael Reyes Jr. ,sister-in-laws (Dr. Paulette Samai and Diana Samai), many cousins and extended family (the Rajahs, the Francis’, the Dhuns, the Downers, the Jhinoos and Nandoos).
Ricky and Betty started their family in Trinidad and later moved to Florida. He was a devoted and dedicated husband, father, grand-father, uncle, cousin and friend.
Ricky had a strong zeal for life, was very loving, caring and attentive. He left a deep impression on those of us who had the experience of knowing him. He loved his wife cooking and was very crafty. In addition to great vocals, he was a self-taught musician who part of the St. Helen Catholic Church choir. He gleamed with pride when hearing his grandchildren play the piano and steel pan. His work ethic was exceptional.
Ricky, I love you and will miss you dearly, your wife Betty.
Dad, you taught us to put Christ first, work hard, be kind and love deeply. Everything we are today, we owe it to you. We will miss you dearly but knowing your in Heaven makes us smile.
Per his wishes he will be cremated.
