Laura Pereira died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by loved ones on January 19, 2025 following a brief illness. Laura was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on February 17, 1947 to Anselma and Teodosio Pereira, where she lived until moving to Brooklyn, NY with her family at 3 years old. In 1981, she moved to South Florida with her husband and young children.
Laura was loving and exceptionally kind, known for her generosity towards all. She quietly supported several refugees displaced by wars in the middle east, helping them with immigration and legal resources, offering friendship along their journeys. A bonafide shopaholic, laura loved too shop, always thoughtfully picking up special items for friends and family. She was an incredibly hard worker, working as an insurance broker until the end of her life. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, having traveled to different countries, soaking in their cultures. Laura was a strong woman and heroic example to her family on perseverance and tenacity. Above all, Laura was devoted to her children and especially her grandchildren, who considered their Nanny a safe haven, spending many weekends basking in her love. Laura was predeceased by her parents and siblings Miquel, Federico, Jamie, Victoria and Julio, and welcomed into heaven by her beloved son Frederick (Freddie) Caccavale. She will be deeply missed by her sisters Carmen and Olivia, faithful daughter Lynn Tedim and son in law Joe, grandchildren Jason, Jarod, Sydney and Justin, and great grandsons Julian and Jordan.
A viewing will be held at TM Ralph's Funeral Home in Sunrise on Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie, Florida at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park in Fort Lauderdale. Laura, we will miss your wicked sense of humor, generosity of spirit and especially your fierce love of us all.
