Laurence Checca

Laurence Robert Checca, 81, of Sunrise, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Laurence was born in Port Chester, New York, on June 19, 1943, to Firminio Paul Checca and Mary Grace Cascio Checca. He attended Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York, and went on to earn a B.A. degree at St. Francis College in Loretto, Pennsylvania. Laurence had a successful 44-year career in Sales and Marketing with Oneida Silversmiths and GreenTree Financial Services. He was also very active in the manufactured housing industry and served on the Stafford County Recreation Commission in Virginia for 10 years. He retired to South Florida in 2016, where he enjoyed cruising, golfing, and spending quality time with family.

Mr. Checca was married to Shirley Fosket Checca for 45 years until her death in 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Brianne Checca of Pompano Beach, Florida, Ashley Sachs; two grandchildren, Savannah and Bayou; his long-term partner, Carol Martin; his sister, Patricia Checca-Anesetti; niece Rosalia Geloso-Barone; and nephew Richard Dominick Geloso, who predeceased him.

A visitation will be held on April 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home: 7001 NW 4th St., Plantation, Florida, 33317.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. David's Catholic Church: 3900 S. University Dr., Davie, Florida, 33328, followed by a luncheon.

Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
