Leonor Sayan Garnett

In loving memory, Leonor Garnett, age 94, of Plantation, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on October 25, 2024. Leonor was born in Lima, Peru on November 16, 1929, she was the youngest of thirteen siblings. 

In 1947, Leonor met the love of her life, Douglas George Garnett, a young neighbor of her family. Leonor and Douglas married and started their family of four children. 

Leonor dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a welcoming home. She took great pride in building and maintaining their homes in Lima. With her creative eye and elegant taste, she transformed their space into one that reflected their personality and love for those who entered. Leonor enjoyed embarking on vacations throughout Europe and the Americas. In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting and sewing, often creating beautiful handmade gifts and clothes for loved ones.

In 1989, Leonor moved with her husband to the United States. She found joy in the kitchen, where she would experiment with many flavors and share delicious meals with family and friends. She had a unique talent for turning ingredients from recipes into culinary masterpieces, embodying the true essence of Peruvian cooking.

In addition to her love for cooking, Leonor was a talented gardener. She found solace and inspiration in nurturing plants, watching them flourish under her care.

Leonor was predeceased by her loving husband of 75 years, Douglas George Garnett, her mother, Felicita Hardt Segura, her father, Luis Sayan Palacios, her twelve brother & sisters, her son, Douglas John Garnett, and grandson Evan Daniel Garnett. She is survived by her three children, Ronald Garnett (m. Leonor), Patricia Garnett Noriega (m. Francisco), and David Garnett (m. Luann), seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is and forever will be loved. Rest in peace, Leonor. Your love for cooking and gardening will forever nourish our hearts and inspire our homes.

A dedication mass will be held in Lima, Peru at the Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Consuelo on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 5pm. To view virtually, click here. A private family gathering of remembrance will be held at her home in Plantation, Florida.
