Linda Diane Fruen Stangel

Linda Diane Fruen Stangel, born in Minneapolis, MN on March 28, 1945, passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2022 at the Sunrise Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sunrise, FL.

 

Through the years she has lived in Minneapolis, MN, Milwaukee, WI and Baltimore, MD before making South Florida her home in the late 1960's.  She raised her son and made a life for herself in this area that included being an active member of the Plantation United Methodist Church.

 

She graduated from the Florida Atlantic University with an accounting degree, while working a full time time job and raising a son.  She went on to become an accountant for several medical insurance companies during her professional years.

 

Of her many passions in life, the three that would carry her through her life were Faith, Family, and Music.  An avid singer since Jr High, she was actively involved in school choirs and glee clubs, church choirs, and community choirs as well.  Her passion for music has been extended through multiple generations of her family, all the way through her grandchildren.

 

She served in several capacities as a member of the Plantation United Methodist Church for almost 50 years.  She was a member of the Chancel Choir, a Stephens Minister, and participated in many other activities through the church.  This was where she could practice all of her passions and be a part of a large family outside of her own. 

 

We are in awe of the support given to her through her final months by both her church family in South Florida and her family and friends throughout the country.  We will always remain grateful for the care and outreach shared by so many on her behalf.  Thank you!

 

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend and servant of God.  She is survived by her son Greg Stangel; daughter-in-law Christine Stangel; grandchildren Ashleigh Stangel, Thomas Stangel, Bryant Stangel, and Jacob Stangel; sister Debbie Jonas; brothers Steve Fruen and Mark Fruen; sister-in-law Nadene Fruen; brother-in-law Steve Jonas.

 

Memorial services will be held on Thursday December 8th at 11AM.at the Plantation United Methodist Church.  In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the endowment fund in her name at the PUMC church located at 1001 NW 70th Avenue, Plantation, FL 33317.
