Lindsay C. Wallace, aged 77, passed in peace on Monday, October 1, 2018. Her love for her family and dear friends will live on in the hearts and memories of those she held close. She is survived by her loving sons Michael and Dennis; her daughters-in-law Sherri and Teri; her granddaughters Brittany and Courtney; her beloved sister Roberta Brinkworth; and her nieces Cynthia Kulle and Heidi Brown.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Lindsay and her husband Don moved to South Florida in the early 1960s. She was very involved in her sons’ sporting activities, where she and Don were active in coaching and score keeping. Her love for baseball especially persisted over the years; she attended many games and discussed the ins and outs with dear friends and family. She served the School Board of Broward County for 29 years, where she wore many hats. Her most cherished role was as South Area Superintendent Benjamin Arculeo’s secretary. Their friendship continued for 26 years and was one of her most treasured relationships.
Lindsay celebrated life over good food and good conversation with those she loved, including life-long friends Eleanore Cougle, Marge Kasper, Chris Arculeo, Candy Coyne, Joyce Ligon, and Vicki De La Feuilliez. She looked forward to trips to Buffalo to visit with family at Brunner’s Tavern, the family-owned bar. Her zest for life was best known in the way she loved her sons and their families; in the tropical colors in her home; in her shelves of Ina Garten cookbooks; and in her proud collection of plants and flowers.
Her passion for civil liberties was obvious to everyone who knew her, regardless of political affiliation. If you would like to make a donation in her honor, please consider a contribution to the League of Women Voters or to When We All Vote.
