On July 19, 2022, Lochnie (Lela) Mangar Busjit, also fondly known as Leloo, passed away peacefully at age 83 years old. Born in Port Mourant, Guyana on September 4, 1939, she spent her later years as a resident of Florida. Lela had a pioneering spirit and was beloved by all. While she held numerous jobs of seamstress, entrepreneur, and a homemaker, she enjoyed baking desserts and serving meals for the children of both Broward and Brevard County School Systems. She was a force to reckon with and all who knew her would agree that she lived her life according to her own rules.

She spent her formative and early adult years living in Port Mourant, and her middle adulthood in New York, Louisiana, and late adulthood in Florida. She is survived by her current husband, Paul Dindial Busjit, and four daughters Ena Bell, Ina Wiehl, Nandranie Busjit Bhalai (Garnet), Amanda Bailey (Stacy), 10 grandchildren, Allison Ann Bell, Jeana Wiehl Bond (West), Andrew Beharry, Ashley Rodgers (Henry), Lauren Bhalai, Christopher Bhalai, Madison Bailey, Bradley Bhalai, Ian Bhalai and Abigail Bailey and 2 great grandchildren, Michael Picozzi and Stella Marie Henry; her numerous siblings Daro Kowlessar, Sum Brady (John), Chandra Singh (Paris), Prem Mangar, Dats Narain (Pete), and a formidable number of nieces and nephews ad extended family members. She is predeceased by her first husband, Harold DrePaul, daughter, Rona Beharry, her parents, Ram Jawallie Mangar, Naranee Mangar, siblings Sunny Singh, Kennard Singh, Kasa Singh, and Jai Singh. Lela lived her life and gave passionately to those that she loved. She had a spark and zest for life with an indomitable spirit that propelled her through her joys and difficulties during her lifetime. She will be greatly missed and forever cherished by all who knew her and loved her.
