Luis Garcia

April 28, 1930 — March 22, 2025

Hialeah

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Luis Garcia, who departed this life peacefully on March 22, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 94.

Born in Sagua La Grande, Cuba, Luis was a master carpenter, a jack of all trades and an avid fisherman who deeply appreciated the outdoors. He loved cooking and German Shepherds.  His consommé, arroz moro, chicken cordon bleu and roast pork was unrivaled. He was an expert in romana weight scales used to weigh sugar cane.   He treasured every moment he spent with his family.

In 1950, Luis met his future wife, Haydee, they married in 1955 and together they built a life filled with love and adventure. In 1969, they moved to Hialeah, Florida, with their four children. Summers were spent camping in Sunshine Key, where Luis’s exceptional fishing skills became the family’s pride. His passions for camping and cooking were matched only by his devotion to his family. A gifted woodworker, Luis created beautiful, lasting pieces that adorned his children's homes—from custom kitchens to handmade ornaments. His skill and dedication were second to none. Luis was always dependable and quick to help others, as the word “no” simply wasn’t part of his vocabulary.

Luis is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Haydee Garcia; his son, Angel Luis (Mercy) Garcia; and his daughters, Mariela Garcia and Elizabeth Wells. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Tati Gonzalez and Elena Ochoa. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Maritza (Lazaro) Temes, Angel (Freeda) Garcia, Melissa (Roy) Perez, Aimee Garcia, and Bernard Rosales; and his great-grandchildren: Anthony Temes, Eric Temes, Josh Temes, AJ Garcia, Ace Garcia, Elena Perez, Emilie Perez, RJ Perez, Valeria Bookman, and Nickolas Rosales.

A service to honor Luis’s memory will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home in Sunrise, Florida.

The Garcia family is deeply grateful for the love and support they’ve received during this difficult time. Luis Garcia’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love—a reflection of the extraordinary person he was.
