Marc Leo Catalano, 64, was born on March 28th, 1955 to Phillip and Arlene Catalano in Hialeah, FL.
He is survived by his brother Carl Catalano, his sister-in-law Maria Catalano, his best friend Barb Catalano, step-children Lenny Stemmerman, Sean Stemmerman, and Debra Hussey, and step-grandchildren Nick Stemmerman, Delaney Stemmerman, Aidan Hussey, Kieran Hussey, and Teagan Hussey.
He grew up in Hialeah, and after high school developed a passion for the violin. He studied to become a concert violinist but later turned his energies to the family business and nursing. Marc received his Nursing degree from the University of the State of New York in 1986.
He was the President of Catalano’s Nurses Registry. During his tenure at the family-owned chain of nurse registries, he grew the company to 6 locations with over 70 employees, referred thousands of nurses and provided care to countless numbers of patients across the State of Florida. He worked tirelessly as a lobbyist on behalf of the Nurse Registry Industry, helping to pass statutes that recognized and regulated nurse registries statewide.
He was also President of the Private Care Association, for almost 15 years, where he lobbied and advocated for Nurse Registries across the United States.
Ever the entrepreneur, he most recently was a cofounder of ACA GPS, a software development company. In his role as President, he studied the entire Affordable Care Act, developed references and resources for employers, and helped create a software system that employers use to report their information to the IRS. He secured multiple contracts to assist State, County, & City governments, and small businesses, with the regulations. His knowledge and understanding of the ACA were greatly appreciated by many customers across the United States.
Marc’s hobbies were diverse, to say the least. From skydiving, to snowboarding; from golfing, to fly fishing; from wood working to playing the violin; there isn’t much that Marc didn’t know something about. If there was a topic that piqued his interest, he’d study it until he was an expert.
Marc was kind and compassionate. He was funny and fun. He never met a stranger, and everyone who knew him considered him a friend. He is, and will be, missed greatly by all.
“And we all go down together …. “ ~ Marc Catalano
