Marc passed away peacefully while asleep at his home in Sunrise, Florida on Father’s Day June 20th 2021. He was 61 years old. Marc was the first (of two children) born to Richard and Janet Miller, in Detroit, Michigan. In his early years the family relocated to Sunrise, where he has spent the majority of his life. As a young boy Marc attended St. Gregory Catholic School in Plantation, and later transferred to Piper High School for the remainder of his education. In 1975 he was the Sun Sentinel paperboy of the year, winning an all-expense paid trip to Austria and Yugoslavia. While attending Piper Marc was a part of the acclaimed Piper Singers, with whom he performed on the steps of the Capitol in Washington DC in the spring of 1976. It was during these years where he met some of his closest lifelong companions, disturbing the peace from Dade to Palm Beach Counties as they rambled on. A few years after graduating, Marc was married to Mary Nicholson, as they welcomed his oldest son Nicholas. Several years later he met and married Renee Dellavalle; welcomed his step daughter Tiffany, and later welcomed his youngest son Dominic. Marc wasn’t just larger than life, life was HIS party, and he demanded that everyone be there. A lover of all things music and nature, his curiosity was met only by his insatiable desire to adventure and find something epic with his friends and family in tow. With his high school friends you could find him singing at a party, with a lighter in the sky at a sold out rock show, or snorkeling along and scavenging a South Florida reef for nature’s curiosities. Marc often shared his love for the poetry of his favorite songs with his children, while spending quality time fishing and exploring the shallow blue from Boynton Beach to Key West. By trade, Marc was a classic South Florida pool guy. Mentored and inspired by the local suppliers and contractors, he traversed nearly four decades in the industry. Marc was able to visit some beautiful places during his journey with us. Some, like Grassy Key or the Pocono Mountains resonated with him until his final days. Of all these destinations, he seemed to continuously find his way back to the Dania Beach Pier, spending much of his free time in the past 20 years casting his hopes into the wind over that never-ending and continuously weathering wood railing. Whether by the support of his sister, the love of his children, the shoulder of his friends, or the words of his favorite song Blue Sky – Marc loved this life for the people that carried him through it. The message to his fellow travelers was merely this: be simple, give what you can, and love your family relentlessly. Marc is survived by his sister Jacque Crumpler, his sons Nicholas and Dominic, and his daughter Tiffany.
