It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Margaret "Peggy" Kenny on December 22, 2023. Peggy was surrounded by the love of her family at her home following a lengthy illness. She was a loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Peggy was born July 30, 1946 in Rathea, Listowel, Co. Kerry, Ireland to Edmond Whyte and Margaret Sheehy. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and friend to all. She hardly ever met a stranger.
Peggy lived up to the title of caretaker in every way. She arrived in Florida from Ireland in 1965, working as a nurse and home health provider for many years. She was also a regular contributor as a volunteer in multiple capacities at church and her boys’ schools. No matter where she went, she offered her love and compassion to all.
Peggy is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Kevin; sons Kevin P. (Nicole) of Weston, FL and Eddie (Wendy) of Owensboro, KY. Her pride and joy is her family, including grandchildren, Erin, Kevin, Katie, Joey and Clare, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to treasure her memory are brother, Sean Whyte, sisters Mary Heaphy, Elizabeth O’Connor, Anne Fitzmaurice, Eileen Sheehy, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Bridie, and brothers, Paddy and Msgr. Edmond Whyte.
She now belongs to two Kingdoms – the Kingdom of Kerry and the eternal Kingdom of God. She will be sorely missed and her memory treasured by all who knew her.
The family is incredibly grateful for the loving care provided by Catholic Hospice. Expressions of sympathy in Peggy’s memory may be made in the form of contributions to Catholic Hospice.
