Marilyn Anne Corrado of Sunrise, FL passed away March 28, 2022. Born Marilyn Anne Gerznick to Margaret Teresa Cleary and Julius Peter Gerznick, March 9, 1943, in Queens, New York. Died age 79, March 28, 2022, of natural causes. Marilyn passed peacefully in her sleep. Loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Married 59 years to husband John A. Corrado. Proud mother of John V. Corrado, and his wife, Camille Anne Corrado, of Freehold, NJ, Monica Corrado Taggart, and her husband D. Franklin Taggart, of Loveland, CO, and Kristine T. Corrado, of Sunrise, Florida. Grandchildren Christen Marie Corrado Calhoun, and her husband David Calhoun, of Romansville, PA, Kelly Anne Corrado of Boston, MA, Colleen Alyssa Corrado, of Washington, DC, and Bodhi Jack Taggart of Loveland, CO. Great-grandsons Warren James and Elliott Walter Calhoun. Marilyn is predeceased by granddaughter Sarah Grace Taggart. Marilyn was the oldest child of two, only sibling brother Richard Peter Gerznick (deceased) 5 years younger. Very independent, she arranged for driving lessons from a neighbor friend of her mother’s, and then purchased her first car, a Studebaker. Excellent in math, she would later attend Rider College and become a Senior Royalty Accountant at McGraw-Hill Publishing Company, in Hightstown, NJ. Joan Corrado Hahn introduced Marilyn to her husband, John A. Corrado in 1961. Married shortly thereafter, they lived in Bayside, NY. Their first child, John, was born in Whitestone, NY. As the wife of a US Army Captain, they shortly moved to Fort Devens, in Ayer, MA, where their second child, Monica, was born. The family moved to Germany in 1966, and lived in Bad Krueznach while John served as Adjutant in the 7th Medical Brigade of the US Army Medical Services Corps in Ludwigsburg. Their third child, Kristine, was born in Bad Cannstatt, Germany, in 1968. Marilyn and family returned to the US in 1969, to live in Howell, NJ, a little more than an hour from Marilyn’s and John’s families in Queens and NYC, NY. Marilyn raised her 3 children in that house, and was very involved at St. Veronica School, which all three children attended for grammar school. She was an active member of the Rosary Altar Society at St. Veronica Church. Marilyn was a very creative person and she loved to learn. She took flower arranging and cake decorating classes. She was an excellent cook, having taught herself how to make all the traditional Hungarian and German foods of her background, and then all the Italian dishes of her husband’s family. When the family lived in NJ (1969-1985), Marilyn prepared multiple course Sunday dinners for family which were enjoyed by all. In June 1985, husband John’s career took her and Kristine to south Florida. Marilyn and John were very active in their new church, All Saints Catholic Church, and they worked tirelessly to raise money to build the church and school. Marilyn worked for 10 years at All Saints in the CCD office, where she again engaged her organizational and interpersonal skills as a valued member of the office. She and ten others were laid off due to restructuring in 2008. Marilyn was also a Columbiette of the Knights of Columbus, an organization of Catholic women dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Theresa the Little Flower, and St. Joan of Arc. Marilyn’s Roman Catholic faith carried her through many difficult times in her life. She was especially devoted to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, and many more, to which her many prayer cards and rosaries testify. When homebound after a broken hip in 2016 and a stroke in 2019, she took sustenance from daily mass on EWTN. Her recovery from her stroke was indeed a miracle - her family was blessed with 2.5 more years prior to her passing on Monday, March 28, 2022. She will be deeply missed. Togetherness – one of Marilyn’s favorite thoughts: Death is nothing at all – I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever were to each, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before – only better, infinitely happier and forever – we will all be on together with Christ. “If anyone who is different from me is of good will and is in search of God, I am no one to judge.” Pope Francis Visitation will be held Monday 9:30-10:30 AM at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home 371 NW 136 Avenue Sunrise, FL 33325. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, Sunrise, Florida. Interment will take place at South Florida National Cemetery.
