MARTIN AMICI
January 6, 1930 – April 25, 2019
Martin Amici, 89, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2019 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was born January 6, 1930 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Christ Amici and Rose Rossello.
As a young man, Martin served in the U. S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, Second Class and received the Navy Occupation Service Medal (Europe clasp) and National Defense Service Medal. He graduated from the Franklin School of Science and Arts, Philadelphia, PA and studied at American University Aix-en-Provence. He married Lieselotte Rutkat of Königsberg, Germany in 1953 and they moved to Plantation, Florida in 1968. He is survived by his beloved wife Lilo of sixty-six years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Christ Amici and siblings Samuel, Martin R., Lawrence, John, Joseph, Carmen, Alfred, Rocco, Michael, Charles and Gertrude Amici.
He leaves as his legacy three children: Bernadette Gaudion (Peter Gaudion), Steven Ameche (Stephanie Scotti), Michael Amici (Lisa Ragonese). He also leaves to cherish his memory grandchildren Christina Gaudion, Peter Sean Gaudion (Brittney Bernard), Madalyn Ameche, Marc Ameche, Catherine Ameche, Sophie Ameche, Olivia, Isabella, Sophia, Dominic, Francis, Constantine, Maximillian Amici and great-grandchildren Hazel and Haddie Gaudion. His nieces and nephews, near and dear to his heart, knew him as Uncle Baby. He cherished above all—family.
Martin Amici served as both First and Senior Vice Presidents of Gold Triangle and Lindsay Lumber until he retired and was an ardent traveler of Europe throughout his life. Upon retiring he lived in Aix-en-Provence, France for six years where he pursued his lifelong passion of painting landscapes. He was a Roman Catholic and cited his late mother for being instrumental in his attendance of daily mass and ‘call’ back to the church in his final years. He lived life passionately, loved his family fiercely—left nothing unsaid or undone.
The family would like to thank the Department of Veterans Affairs, Wilton Manors Health & Rehab Center, Vitas Healthcare and T.M. Ralph Funeral Home, Plantation.
Private arrangements are ongoing and final resting place will occur at the VA National Cemetery.
