Martin Goldstein, a man with a wonderful sense of humor and a great mind, gave way to his failing physical capacities with dignity and a strong faith. Marty, as he preferred to be called, passed away at the age of 96 on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Tomball, TX with his loving step-daughter Debbie Kane at his side. As a young man, Marty worked at his father’s parking lots in New York City where he often recounted a chance meeting with screen actor George Raft. His future occupations were varied and colorful. In the 1940’s he served his country in WW2 in the Pacific Theatre in the Fiji Islands. When there were lulls in action, he teamed up with Danny Kaye who was touring the islands to entertain the troops. Marty continued his love for entertaining in the Borscht Belt in New York’s Catskill Mountains resorts with the likes of Buddy Hackett and Jimmy Durante. In the 1960’s he became a successful real estate entrepreneur in New Jersey. In the 1970’s Marty was an avid boxing promoter in the Bahamas, training young and upcoming fighters. He was also a promotional manager for Muhammad Ali for a couple of years in Australia. In the 1980’s he started a successful advertising and marketing business in South Florida, which he continued until he retired in 2008. He is survived by his daughters Marcia Kasdan and Joyce Goldstein and his step-daughters Lorraine DelVecchio, Diane Bigby, Debbie Kane, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
