Mary Ann Marcum (MeMe) Sherman, of Plantation, Florida, went home to Heaven on September 5, 2021. Mary Ann was born in Berea, Kentucky on October 20th, 1934. Mary Ann and her family moved to Miami, Florida where they attended First Baptist Church of Miami. She once said, “The most important decision that I have ever made in my life was when I was 14 years old and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.” Mary Ann was a charter member of New Testament Baptist Church and there, she met the love of her life, Jack Sherman. She met Jack Sherman on a church bus as they were headed to a youth event. Her recollection of that event was captured when she said, “This was the best night of my life because he was to be my partner for the rest of my life.” Mary Ann enjoyed life. She enjoyed cooking her family famous cucumber/vinegar salad and her vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. She relished sewing dresses and many times made matching ones for the girls. She found pleasure in traveling but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and dear friend. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John (Jack) Sherman. Mary Ann is survived by two daughters: Jacqueline and Sally; 5 grandchildren: Mary Jo, John, Katrina, Robert, and Eric; and 6 great-grandchildren: Blake, Landen, Madison, Kayleigh, Aislynn and Joyanna. Mary Ann’s great love, sweet smile, and her passion for the Lord, through her many prayers, are her legacy. Mary Ann’s viewing will be held on Saturday, September 18th,2021 at Calvary Chapel Plantation at 12:00 PM; we will be having the Celebration of Life in her honor led at 1:00 PM at the church. Private Family burial will be held at Lauderdale Memorial Park.
