Mary L. Perfect

Mary L. Perfect passed away at her home in Plantation, September 17, 2024, where she has lived over 45 years.

Born November 13, 1925 in Union County, Ohio, to parents, Moore C. and Marie Perfect. 

They came to Fort Lauderdale by train when she was one month old. The family survived the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926, though it took their tent house, and all family possessions to the New River, then out to the Atlantic Ocean. 

Growing up in Fort Lauderdale, Mary attended Southside Elementary, graduated Fort Lauderdale High School in 1943, earned her bachelors and then master’s degree from Florida State University.

She worked for Martin Aircraft Engineering in Baltimore during World War II, returning to Fort Lauderdale after to teach mathematics.

Mary helped start Stranahan High School, teaching Math for 10 years. After Stranahan High School, she started teaching at Broward College, retiring in 1995, though she stayed on staff part-time.

Mary is survived by brother, Paul W. and Rosemarie Perfect of Fairhope, AL; two nephews, Ronald J. Perfect of Fort Lauderdale, and Alan W. and Michelle Perfect of Portland, TN; three nieces, Rita and Dicky Harrleson of Valparaiso, FL, Betsy and Rick Petzke of Elmira, NY, Paula and Tom Johnson of Ackworth, GA, and many great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Moore. C. Perfect, Jr., and nephew Gary Perfect.

Family will gather, Thursday, September 26, 2024, 10:30AM-11:30AM, at T. M. Ralph Funeral Home in Plantation, FL. Funeral Service will begin at 11:30AM, and burial to follow in Lauderdale Memorial Park, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
