Mary Zidtowecki of Plantation passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 2, 2019, blessed with 92 years of life. Mary was born in Girardville, PA on May 20, 1926, to parents Louis and Madeline Buzzelli.
Mary attended J.W. Cooper High School, where she was class valedictorian. She was married to Joseph Laspina and had 2 beautiful sons, Michael and Perry Laspina. She is survived by her son Perry, Michael passed away in 1972. Later, Mary was married to Stanley Zidtowecki, whom she met while working at Topper Toys in NJ, where she was the Executive Secretary. Mary and Stanley met when he was doing repair work for New Jersey Bell. Mary did voice overs for the Suzy Smart doll. Stanley and Mary had a son, Martin.
They moved from Colonia, NJ to Scottsdale, AZ and resided there for couple of years and then moved to South Florida. Mary was a nightclub singer, performing in major cities. She was also an antiques dealer who loved buying “stuff” Mary enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dining out, shopping, praying, Florida’s warm, sunny weather and did we mention - dining out?
Mary is survived by her sister Rita Laspina of PA, Mary’s children Perry Laspina & Martin Zidtowecki, her grandchildren, Michael Laspina Simmons, Alissa Zidtowecki, Joshua Laspina and Milla Zidtowecki Von Tauber. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Elaine, Madeline and Rick. Mary’s cousins, Vinnie, Nicholas, newest arrival Isabelle, Lindsay and Michael Vranchic, in addition to numerous other relatives in PA and OH. A special mention of her close family friends, Carol Fuoco of NJ, Ivo Kuric, Pete J. Paragone, The Walkling family, Boots and Ladonna Lippert, Mitch Kleppe and family, the O’Connell family and Sandra Kennedy and family.
Mary was a devout Catholic and faithfully attended Saint Bernard Chuch. The family would lke to thank the staff of Lester’s Diner, Peter Pan Diner, and Dandee Donut, many of who became friends over the years. Additional thanks to Dr. Milica Starcevic and staff for their amazing care and love.
Visitation will take place on January 6th, from 2-4 PM, with a Celebration Of Life service to follow at 4 PM, at T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, 7001 NW 4th Street, Plantation, FL 33317. Please light a candle and say a prayer for Mary to keep her memory alive.
