Please use this link after 6:30 PM to view service Mayra Almeida Corral, a middle school teacher and long-time resident of Weston, FL, died in her sleep on June 23, 2021, at the age of 64 after a seven-year battle with cancer. Mayra is survived by her mother, Emilia Almeida, her husband, John Corral, her children Ian, Francis and Isabella, and her brother, Jose, and sister, Margarita. Mayra was born in in the city of Colon, Matanzas province, Cuba, on March 27, 1957, to Jose Eduardo Almeida and Emilia Antonia Tages. She graduated from NOVA University in July 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and worked with the Broward County School District as a Middle School Teacher of Social Studies and American History for over fifteen years. On February 19, 1983, she married John Corral, an international marketing professional that she met while employed at a medical device manufacturer called Del Mar Avionics. On May 21, 1991, then on April 23, 1992, and on February 8, 1994, respectively, she welcomed her two beautiful sons and beautiful daughter who were the most important part of her life. Mayra was a devoted mother and adept cook of Mexican cuisine. She enjoyed being with nature and liked visiting the beach, countryside, mountains, forests and the desert whenever the opportunities came up. Mayra was a spiritual woman. She visited the Aztec and Mayan pyramids in Mexico and participated in spiritual retreats in the Rocky Mountains and the Sonoran Desert, and studied Shamanic healing. She was always thrilled in sharing and teaching what she learned from her travels and studies. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.
