Michael Robert Diamond

Mike Diamond passed away February 24, 2024 from complications with Leukemia.

Mike was a native Floridian, graduated from Cardinal Newman H.S. and Florida Southern College. Mike had a successful insurance career (The Travelers, General Accident, Associated Industries, AmTrust) and actually met his wife (Lynn) at the Dade Big I tennis tournament.

Mike and Lynn were blessed with an amazing son (James) which eventually got Mike involved in PAL coaching (baseball and basketball) and as an adult leader in Cub Scout Pack 111 and Boy Scout Troop 175. One of Mike’s favorite sayings related to kids was ‘a good example is better than good advice’.

The Diamond’s had plenty of family adventures: travel, multiple trips to their cabin in NC, camping/hiking, paddling, racing their sailboat (Sloop John B) with the St. Lucie Sailing Club and recently flyfishing for trout in NC. Mike also enjoyed trips with the guys: annual Whitehorse Key kayak/camping trips, Sig Ep reunions at Cedar Key, whitewater paddling, hiking the entire Georgia section of the AT and paddling the 100 mile Wilderness Waterway through Everglades National Park. Mike enjoyed volunteer work (Feeding South Florida, Meal on Wheels, AARP Tax Aide) after early retirement but his world continued to revolve around Lynn and James.

Mike leaves behind a wife (Lynn), son (James) and sister (Barbara Diamond).

Services are being held March 9^th, 2024 at Our Savior Lutheran (8001 NW 5^th St., Plantation) followed by a lunch reception at the El Dorado Estates Clubhouse (1 Eldorado Pkwy, Plantation).
