Myrna Josefina Pichardo de Sánchez 05/02/1936 to 01/27/2025

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of our dear mother, Myrna Josefina Pichardo de Sanchez, who left us on Monday, January 27, 2025. Thankfully, Mom was surrounded by her children, close family, and friends in her final moments. She was a wonderful and dedicated mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love. A pillar of strength, wit, and grace, her passing leaves a significant void in our hearts.

Myrna was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Angeolo Sánchez-Bethancourt, her brothers José Pichardo Montaño, Wilfredo Pichardo Montaño, Vicente Pichardo Montaño, Marino Pichardo, Gilberto Pichardo, and sister, Gisela Pichardo de Pernas. She leaves behind her children, Dr. Myrna Sánchez-Latreille, Dr. Sigrid Sánchez-Pichardo, Dr. Angeolo Sánchez-Pichardo and Deborah Sánchez-Billings, Esq., their spouses, Dr. William Latreille, Amanda Markley and Robert David Billings; plus six exemplary grandchildren, two beautiful great-grandbabies, and many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Myrna was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, one of five children of Don Marino Pichardo-Sanchez and Doña Carmen Montaño de Pichardo. A high school graduate of Colegio Santo Domingo, Myrna also attended the University of Washington in the 1950s. Shortly after she married, Myrna and her husband returned to the United States and eventually decided to raise their four children in the USA and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Behind every great man is an even greater woman, and Myrna exemplified this. While raising four (4) children in the 1970s, Myrna managed her husband’s medical practices in Edison and Barwick, Georgia. In the 1980s, Myrna established the first roller skating rink in Santo Domingo, “Salon de Patinaje Debbie.” Subsequently, she worked as a beloved English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher at the American School of Santo Domingo. Myrna was a self-taught and very talented watercolor painter and horticulturist. Myrna was the President of the Garden Club in Rome, GA; here, she led the team and won many first-place ribbons herself. During her last decades, Myrna enjoyed her children, grandchildren, friends, family, and her faith.

To commemorate her wonderful life, the love she spread, and the memories we cherish, we invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman and mom.
