Patricia Ann Turner

July 2, 1940 — February 20, 2019

Patricia Ann Turner, born on July 2nd, 1940, passed away peacefully in her home in Weston, Florida early Wednesday morning, February 20th, at the age of 78. Although a native of New York City, Patricia was reared in Miami from an early age.

She attended St. Patrick's primary and secondary schools where she met her first husband, James Rogan, in the second grade. Patricia and James married and she supported his military career as an Army Infantry Officer at a myriad of posts for several years. During his second tour in Vietnam, James lost his life in the line of duty, leaving Patricia a widow with two young sons. To support her family, Patricia's entrepreneurial spirit was launched and she successfully started several business enterprises, which eventually led her to the Amway Business.

Through Amway, Patricia loved to inspire others with her vision and spirit, and her success was shared with fellow business owners across the world. In 1974, Patricia met John Turner, a laicized Catholic Priest, who dedicated his time to being a Maryknoll Missionary in Bolivia. They quickly fell in love and married soon after meeting, and together they shared life and business adventures for more than 44 years.

In 1993, Patricia and John moved to the Weston community where she immersed herself into a variety of civic, charitable and religious organizations. Patricia touched the lives of many through her active support of the Rotary, Kids in Distress, This is My Brave, and St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Patricia's kindness, giving spirit, and generosity was evident in everything she touched, including her renowned annual Christmas parties where more than 200 themed trees and Christmas villages were on display for all to enjoy.

Patricia will be best remembered for her penchant for life. She never met a stranger, and when in her presence, you felt as if you were the center of her world. Patricia had a beautiful way of touching your soul and making you feel special. Patricia's dedication to her friends was evident in everything she did, from starting the Royal and Regal Hats of Weston, where, as the esteemed 'Queen Mum', she enlisted a group of women who shared her love for community connections through fun, friendship and philanthropy, to endless conversations over lunch. Patricia was an avid blackjack player and enjoyed Bridge with the "Happy Girls of Weston" as well as canasta.

Patricia's greatest joy was her family with whom she became the official "event planner." Pat treasured traveling the globe with her children and grandchildren, and was particularly fond of cruising. She was an ardent traveler throughout all of her days and was in the process of planning a trip to Iceland, one of the few places she had not ventured. She was particularly proud of her grandchildren and loved sharing in their accomplishments, joy, and live journeys. She frequently scheduled phone dates with each of them to stay abreast of their happenings. Patricia touted, "if you can dream it you can do it" with each person whose life path she crossed. Patricia was your biggest cheerleader and was as committed to the fulfillment of your goals and dreams as you were. She had a beautiful way of inspiring others to turn dreams to reality.

Patricia Turner was well respected by all her knew her, and her zest for living life and touching others was admired. Patricia will be remembered for her contagious laughter, penchant for living, playful spirit, work ethic, kindness, generosity, and unconditional love for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, John Turner, and her sons James and John, and grandchildren Johnny, Daniel, and Matthew. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 26th at 10:00 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie, Florida. Donations may be made to Kids in Distress in lieu of flowers.
