Paul J. Everts, 91, died at Covenant Village, Plantation, FL on June 17, 2018. He was born Sept. 5, 1926, in Cazenovia, NY, the only child of Herman P. and Beryl (Emery) Everts. He was a graduate of Cornell Univ. School of Floriculture, '50 and Fuller Theological Seminary '55 and one year of special studies at North Park Seminary, '56. As a USN enlisted in WW II, he served 18 months only in CONUS.
Ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church in 1956, he served 2 churches: one in Mn and the other in ND until his entry into the US Navy Chaplaincy in 1964 until his retirement in 1988. He is survived by his loving wife, Muriel, of 70 years; 2 sons, Peter (Marty) of Holland, MI and David (Karen) of Fredericksburg, VA; 3 daughters, Connie Clark (Tim) of Plantation, FL, Judy Downs (George) of Augusta, GA and Jana Davila (Rodney) of San Jose, Costa Rica, also 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grands and several cousins. Paul was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his entire family, as well as a faithful friend to many. He was an avid gardener, also enjoying tennis and bridge.
Memorial services are in Plantation, FL, July 17 and Atlantic Beach, FL, Sept. 22. Burial was in South FL National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the CVOF Benevolent Fund, 9215 W. Broward Blvd., Plantation, FL, 33324.
