Pelagia "Bing" Box, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on December 16, 1954, in Leyte, Philippines, she exemplified resilience and warmth throughout her life.
Bing was a dedicated professional in the hardware industry, beginning her career at Scotty’s Hardware in Jacksonville, Florida, where she worked for ten years. She then spent an impressive two decades at Lowe's, earning a reputation as a well-respected and beloved member of the team. Bing's engaging personality shone through as she made customers feel welcomed and valued, always ready to share a smile and offer assistance.
Her most cherished role was that of a grandmother to her only grandson, Cameron Charles Box. There was a radiant joy in her heart each time she was with him, and her passion for caring for Cameron was evident in every moment they shared. Her face would light up at the sight of him, symbolizing the deep bond and love they enjoyed together.
Bing was also a devoted military spouse, standing by her husband, the late BMC Vernon C. Box, with whom she shared a life of dedication and service for over 23 years. Vernon, a military veteran, played an integral role in her life and they built a family together, which she cherished deeply.
Passionate about gardening, Bing transformed her backyard into a vibrant retreat, often described as pristine and magazine-worthy. Her love for nature and beauty filled her home with color and life, reflecting her own cheerful spirit.
Bing's journey was not without its struggles, as she bravely battled the effects of two strokes, culminating in Global Aphasia that affected her ability to communicate. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, she remained tough—a true fighter through to the end.
She is survived by her beloved only child, Christopher W. Box, and grandson, Cameron Charles Box.
A visitation will be held in her honor on March 12, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a prayer service that begins at 4:30 PM, at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston, located at 371 NW 136th Ave, Sunrise, FL 33325.
Pelagia "Bing" Box will be remembered not just for her work and hobbies, but for the love she shared with her family, the kindness she extended to those she met, and the lasting impression she left on everyone who knew her.
