Please remember Peter with a Memorial Donation to Heartland Hospice
Peter Victor Vannucci
Born October 28, 1930 to Ida and Americo Vannucci
Pete went through 2 years of college but his claim to fame was in high school with his career in football. He met his beautiful wife Joan when she was waiting for the school bus.He rode up on his motorcycle and asked if she wanted a ride to school. She said "of course not" but he waited with her for the bus to come. Joan's father would have never permitted that anyway !!
Pete became a life guard at Jones Beach at the age of 19. Joan and her best friend Mary Jane thought it would be a great way to get to the beach when Joan started to date Pete. However, Joan and Mary Jane would walk to another beach when Pete was working because they thought their legs were too skinny,
Life went onto marriage on March 8, 1952 because Joan, fresh out of nursing school, and Peter wanted to go skiing and, of course, in those days you could NEVER go away together without being married !!!
Pete was a successful certified financial planner.
He was an adventurist as well and we moved as a family to California, Germany and various homes on Long Island, New York.
The marriage produced three great children Patricia, Mark and Lisa. Then came 7 grandchildren Michael, Gregory, Keri, Nicholas, Michael, Courtney and Michael (Yes, that's 3 grandchildren named Michael). They are also blessed with 3 great grandchildren Dominic, Christopher and Annabelle.
Pete lived the life of an athlete from lifeguard, swimming, skiing, tennis, golf, etc. There really was not a sport he did not like or excel at.
One day I created a song for him (sung to the tune of Venus in Blue Jeans). It goes like this:
They say there's 7 wonders in the world
That's something that you don't create
There's more than 7 wonders in the world
And we know number 8
It's Peter Vannucci
He's an athlete extraordinaire
He'll do any sport you want to do
Any he will do it better than you
It's Peter Vannucci
And after the age of eightyyyyyyy
He was so excited to go and ski
Because he can ski for freeeeeee
He competed and won senior Olympic games in various states over the past 39 years. He always went for the GOLD and mostly won the GOLD.
We love and miss you and will see you again.
